Cooperation spotlight: Ohmatdyt & Children’s Hospital Fund in Latvia

  • 01.02.2024

Air alarms, bombings, fears for life, blackout, difficulties in educating children during wartime, children's illnesses with all the trials and stresses - all this has become the reality of our lives and the subject of constant discussions, including with our regular hotel partners.

Thus was born the idea of a project on the psychological rehabilitation of children and parents at Ohmatdyt National Children's Specialized Hospital, who have been in the hospital for a long time and have heightened anxiety due to war injuries and chronic illnesses of the children.

All this became possible thanks to Liene Dambina, the wife of our shareholder Vilis Dambis, and her Children's Hospital Fund in Latvia Bernuslimnicasfonds, which organized a camp for psychoemotional rehabilitation for Ukrainian children and their parents.

In the past year alone, children visited Riga 5 times. During these incredible visits, the Fund and its partners organized numerous master classes in art therapy and drama therapy, culinary master classes, entertainment programs, excursions, and walks with animals in the zoo.

Our Ukrainian children say that the friendly Latvian wind, snowy fairy tale, and kindness of people helped them smile again and remember their dreams.

Psychological adventures also did not pass by parents, who underwent trauma therapy training and swimming lessons, as well as our Ukrainian specialists from Ohmatdyt, who participated in knowledge exchange with their Latvian colleagues.

Our children and their parents were also honored and personally received at the Presidential Palace by the President and the First Lady of Latvia. This gave everyone the opportunity to personally feel the support of Ukraine at the highest level.

Each family has a difficult life path, but they are strong and unbreakable, like our Ukraine. Each visit was a testament to the resilience of these young souls and the enduring presence of both hospitals in their well-being.

Let's continue to spread love, healing, and hope, step by step.
